Pastor Robert Oliver
Dr. Robert L. “Bob” Oliver is a man of God with a vision for our community, city, nation and the world. He is ordained by the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, and is currently in good standing.
Pastor Oliver began his ministry in 1980 at Cherry Avenue Church of God, Long Beach, California. From 1987 to 1993 he served at Bellflower Church of God, Bellflower, California, and in July 1993, he came to Harbor Community Church of God. In the summer of 1996, Pastor Oliver accepted a position as Member of “The Church Planting Committee” for the Association of the Church of God of Southern California and Southern Nevada and was appointed to plant a church in Harbor City, California, which he accomplished and served in until January 2000. Throughout his service he has held positions as Associate Pastor, Assistant Pastor, Youth Pastor, Chairman of Trustee Board, Director and Member of Christian Education, Sunday School Teacher, Secretary of Men’s Group, Member of Building Committee, Convalescent Home Ministry, and Home Group Discipling Leader/ Coordinator, and Member of the Greenbelt Committee. In 2000 he was called back to Harbor Community Church of God. Since then, he has served as Associate Pastor for Administration & Operations, Co-Pastor, and he currently serves as Senior Pastor.
Pastor Oliver is formerly a successful Real Estate and Mortgage Broker and Building Contractor. He has served many years in various community organizations and committees and is currently a Life Member of the Carson Lions Club. He is also a retired military veteran from both the US Army and the California State Military Reserve, attaining and holding the final rank of Colonel.
Pastor Oliver’s education includes a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Vision Christian University and a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from University of Nebraska at Omaha. He has also attended USC Law School (1973-74), Casey Christian College, Los Angeles, California (1980-82), Light of Life Bible Institute, Long Beach, California (1980-86), and Azusa Pacific University School of Theology, Azusa, California (1986–87).
He and Sue have been married over 43 years. They have three grown children all of whom hold graduate degrees from various universities.
